Seen from Earth, the Sun and the Moon look almost exactly the same size, and that is pure coincidence: the Sun is about four hundred times bigger, but it also sits four hundred times further away. That fluke is why total eclipses exist, with the Moon covering the solar disc almost perfectly. This mandala brings the two together: a sun with straight and wavy rays at the center, a ring of crescent moons turning around it and another of stars and dots. Play with the contrast between day and night: gold, orange and yellow for the sun and its rays, midnight blue and silver for the moons, and a deep purple behind the outer rings.
