Counting Game for Kids: Learn Numbers Visually
Look at the objects on screen and pick how many there are from 5 options.
Counting objects is one of the foundational skills in early math learning. In this game, kids see a number of images on screen (fruits, animals, toys, etc.) and pick the right number from 5 options. Each session has 10 rounds with progressive difficulty. The mechanic is simple, no time pressure, designed for kids to learn at their own pace.
Three levels to follow development: Easy with up to 5 objects for the youngest, Medium with up to 10 objects for those counting confidently, and Hard with up to 20 objects for older kids who know their numbers. Each level has 5 answer options close to the correct value, training visual discrimination of quantities.
What do kids learn by counting?
- Recognizing the numbers 1 through 20 across all 3 levels
- One-to-one correspondence: the child matches each object on screen with a number
- Visual discrimination between similar quantities when choosing among the 5 answer options
- Focus and methodical counting throughout the 10 rounds of each game
- Building number confidence before formal math, moving up from sets of 5 objects to sets of 20

Frequently asked questions
What age can kids start playing the counting game?
Kids can start the counting game from age 3 with the Easy level, which shows up to 5 objects per screen. At that age children begin to recognize small quantities and to link the number symbol with the amount of objects they see. The Medium level (up to 10 objects) works well from ages 4-5, once they count confidently to 10 and recognize the written number. The Hard level (up to 20 objects) is designed for kids ages 6 to 8 who already have a handle on numbers up to 20 and are starting to count by twos or fives. This progression lets the same child use the site for years, moving up a level when they feel ready and never before.
How do you play the counting game?
In the counting game several pictures appear on screen (for example, 7 apples) and the child has to pick the correct number from the 5 options shown below. A correct pick earns a point and the Next button moves on to the following round. After a wrong answer the child sees the correct answer highlighted and can keep going with no penalty: the goal is to learn by counting, not to get frustrated. At the start of each round a friendly voice reads the question out loud, so children who can't read yet can play on their own too. The objects are shuffled randomly across 5 different themes (fruit, animals, toys, space and sweets) to keep things interesting.
How many rounds does each game of the counting game have?
Each game of the counting game has 10 rounds, an amount designed to train the skill without tiring the child out. At the end a summary shows how many answers they got right out of the total, and a celebration popup appears with Momo the mascot. The child can replay the same level to beat their score, switch to a different level for more of a challenge, or quit and come back later: progress is saved automatically on the device. Every correct answer also adds to the gallery of unlocked stickers, which keeps kids motivated to play session after session.
