The peach is a close relative of the almond: if you crack open its wrinkled stone you will find a seed inside that looks almost exactly like one. Peaches traveled out of China more than two thousand years ago and are now grown across half the world. This page shows two peaches hanging from a branch with long narrow leaves and an open peach blossom, plus one cut in half revealing that stone. To color it, blend an orange-yellow base with a reddish blush on the cheek that faced the sun, just like the real thing. Use light orange for the flesh, brown for the stone and a soft pink for the flower.
