A gear never works alone: when one toothed wheel turns one way, the one beside it always turns the other way, and that is how force travels from one to the next across the whole machine. This robot has an open chest showing exactly that — a mechanism of meshed gears, springs and a pendulum, with copper pipes running up to its shoulders and a valve letting off steam. It is the page with the most small pieces in the series, perfect for coloring each gear a different shade: coppers, golds and bronzes for the mechanism, and steel grey for the outer shell.
