The very first Christmas baubles were blown from glass more than a hundred and fifty years ago in a German village called Lauscha. Before that, people hung apples, nuts and biscuits on their trees. This page shows a pine branch with carefully drawn needles, two pine cones and three ornaments dangling below, each with its own pattern: stars, stripes and snowflakes. It is a perfect page for trying out combinations: one bauble in red with golden stars, another in blue with silver stripes, and the third in green. The pine needles call for a deep green, and the cones for a warm brown with slightly lighter scales.
