Cherry trees do things backward compared to most trees: they burst into flower first and only grow their leaves afterward, so for a few days in spring they look like pink clouds. This page shows three pairs of cherries joined at their stems, arranged diagonally among leaves with finely toothed edges. Because the shapes are large and simple, it is a great page to start with. Cherry red is the classic choice, but there are also varieties so dark they look almost black and others that are yellow with a pink blush, so you could color each pair differently. Light green suits the stems, while the leaves look best a shade darker with their veins clearly marked.
