The candy apple in this basket was invented by accident in 1908: a sweet seller dipped some apples in red candy to decorate his shop window and ended up selling the lot. Hard candies, meanwhile, are sugar cooked past a hundred and fifty degrees, which is why they turn glassy and see-through as they cool. This page is an overflowing treat basket: twisted wrappers, lollipops, chocolate bars and a couple of autumn leaves beside it. Go bold and give every wrapper a different color — red, purple, green, turquoise — with a pink and white spiral on the lollipop, a glossy red apple and a wicker-brown basket.
