The first thing you see is the claws, held up in front like hands that never quite close. Behind them comes the shell, hard and wet, shining wherever the sun hits it. The eyes sit on short stalks and swivel around while the body stays put. A crab walks sideways, thin legs tapping over the rock, and leaves a line of tiny prints across the damp sand. Sometimes bubbles of foam gather at its mouth. When a shadow passes overhead, it slides edgewise into a crack in the rocks or digs down into the sand until nothing shows but the eyes, watching the next wave come back up the beach.

Easy (2-3 years)

The Easy version of this Crab puzzle has just 4 pieces on a 2×2 grid, made for children aged 2 to 3 who are starting to understand how parts make up a whole.

Medium (4-5 years)

The Medium version of this Crab puzzle splits the picture into 9 pieces on a 3×3 grid, a balanced challenge for children aged 4 to 5.

At this age kids can already picture how pieces fit together and learn to plan their moves. Nine pieces demand more sustained focus and build patience and spatial perception.

Hard (6+ years)

In its Hard version, the Crab puzzle breaks into 16 pieces on a 4×4 grid, a challenge designed for children aged 6 and up.

Solving 16 pieces requires planning, comparing shapes and holding attention for several minutes. It is the level that trains problem-solving and frustration tolerance the most, with the big reward of completing a complex picture.
